Nature-wise Nature & Adventure Tours in Central Otago

  • Potato Paddock above the Kokonga Church
Nature-wise operates small group eco-tours into the inspirational highlands and hinterlands of the two great trails of Central Otago - the Otago Central Rail Trail and the Old Dunstan Trail. Also, in a serious attempt to operate and live on a sustainable basis, we grow a few potatoes! See Dig Your Own Spuds on the Our Tours page.

For Walkers,

Bikers, 4WDrivers

Our tours are planned to suit those who may be walking or cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail or those driving between Queenstown, Clyde and Dunedin. Nature-wise short tours may be used to give the cycling legs a rest or maybe to experience some of the Maniototo's colourful history or to check out the grand expanses of alpine scenery as seen from the tor strewn tops at 1400+ metres. This season, 09-10 we introduce another option, those with 4WD vehicles may tag along on some of our tours. See our Nature-wise Off Trail Summer 09-10 Programme

Otago Central Rail Trail and Old Dunstan Trail

You can now do Both Trails

Nature-wise may just be the first to offer the round trip, ie Otago Central Rail Trail and the very historic Old Dunstan Trail.
This means for independent 'Rail Trailer' travellers who leave a car in either Clyde or Middlemarch, there is a fun and novel answer to the question, ‘how do we get back to our car?’ It also means, the Otago Central Rail Trail and the Old Dunstan Trail are now linked and can be completed as a loop or return trip. Plus, there's more...

Nature-wise connects by arrangement with the Taieri Gorge Railway, thus linking all three historic routes in one grand tour. Contact us for help with these arrangements.
